I am pleased to announce the publication of the third edition of ‘A Practical Guide to Food Law in the United Kingdom’.
The book focuses on the law in Great Britain, Northern Ireland being aligned to the EU, and provides readers with an introduction to the regulation, supervision and enforcement of food law. It covers substantive topics such as food safety and hygiene, food information and nutrition and health claims.
As the title suggests, the book approaches the subject from a practical perspective rather than being a ‘heavyweight’ legal text book. As such, it should appeal to a wider readership including students, academics, consultants, regulators and lawyers, irrespective of their level of knowledge of food law.
Although much of Great Britain’s food law continues to be based on EU food law principles, the regulatory consequences of Brexit continue to shape the development of a changing food law landscape in Great Britain. Divergence from contemporary EU food law becomes more noticeable and the gap between EU law and GB law becomes wider.
This requires a more GB-focused understanding of food law as it applies in that jurisdiction. This book aims to assist in that understanding.
