Food Standards Agency – Food Safety Week 11 to 17 June 2012

This year’s theme for the FSA’s annual Food Safety Week is a very topical one, ‘food safety on a budget’.

The event will promote the importance of good food hygiene in the home. It will look at ways to ensure that even when money is tight we can ensure that the food we buy and eat is safe. The Food Standards Agency’s guidance includes understanding ‘use by’ and ‘best before’ dates and how to use leftover food safely.

In addition to providing useful food safety advice the lessons learned during Food Safety Week will help to reduce the amount of food waste.

The FSA website contains a short food safety quiz which aims to separate fact from fiction. http://www.food.gov.uk/news/campaigns/germwatch/fsq
